ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to determine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the development of internal tourism in the Russian Federation, identify the prerequisites and analyze the factors limiting the development of internal tourism. Monitoring of the tourism potential of the Russian Federation and analysis of the resource base made it possible to assess the existing problems and suggest possible ways to solve them. The authors have determined the prerequisites for the development of internal tourism during the pandemic on the territory of Russia, observed the place and specifics of internal tourism in tourist flows, and substantiated the place and role of the pandemic in the development of internal tourism in the Russian Federation. As a result of the study, the trends in the development of internal tourism have been identified, as well as the regions of its most promising development and the constraining factors for the development of internal tourism. The results obtained contribute to the development of internal tourism in the Russian Federation, the popularization of internal tourism online, which ultimately ensures an increase in the tourist flow within the country, and also allows creating additional jobs in the tourism sector.

ABSTRACT

The South Caucasian region started to capture Chinas attention in 2013 when the «One Belt One Road» Initiative was announced. Chinas interest to expand its economic impact in this region can be explained based on a few factors: the regions growing demand for large investments, the economic crisis of neighboring countries caused by US and EU sanctions against Iran, Russia, and Turkey. It should be noted the growing geo-economic role of Azerbaijan in the implementation of the big logistical projects such as Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, Free Economic Zone within Alat International Sea Trade Port, international transport corridors "East-West" and "North-South". These projects have increased Azerbaijan's viability to become a logistical hub on the trade bridge between China and Europe. Today 96 percent of trade volume between China and Europe is carried out via sea routes. China is interested in using the remaining 4 % via land routes throughout the territories of countries that the Great Silk Way passed through in ancient times. This article will analyze the historical and economic aspects of trade relations between Azerbaijan and China, assess the carrying capacity of its transport potential, the possibility of attracting new investments and accessing their impact on its economy and GDP as a whole. Today, the Chinese economic system, and the world economy, is facing a very strong enemy-the coronavirus. A sharp drop in world oil prices on the background of coronavirus slowed global GDP and decreasing of demand for goods supplied by China to foreign markets. According to the Chinese government, the drop in exports for January-February 2020 in dollar terms was 17.2%. To strengthen ties with the world, first of all, all countries must be cured of this disease. And we believe that this difficult task will be solved and the "One Belt One Road" project will be realized.

ABSTRACT

The article presents the experience of the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Science’s Markul Expedition, which utilized digital technologies for the study, preservation, and popularization of cultural heritage. The objective of the Markul Expedition was to obtain a complete picture of the historical and cultural landscape of Northwestern Colchis in antiquity by applying two key digital technologies: geographic information systems (GIS) and photogrammetry. The results obtained from the latter were used both independently and were integrated into GIS as separate layers (orthophotomaps, digital terrain models) or as hyperlinks to objects (3D models, videos, plans, sections, etc.). The objects investigated by the expedition are very diverse both in size and in terms of shooting conditions. Accordingly, each category of archaeological site required an individual approach, and a separate methodology and equipment. The final visualization angles differ to a fair extent from the original samples even though photogrammetry provides more accurate results than manual measurements. There are several reasons for this, including the vegetation, which is a dominant factor in the Caucasus subtropical area and led to partial visual distortions of the photographed objects. For this reason, the final projections of architectural forms required corrections and some hand drawing. In this process, new aspects appeared in the final result, resulting from the archaeologist and artist’s differing views of the objects. Our experience of using modern remote sensing technologies is also presented in the article.

ABSTRACT

2020 started in a hard way for the whole world and it was a remarkably tough year for the educational system. On the 12th March the World Health Organization announced the Pandemic, which changed many things for Georgia and for the whole world. Georgia shifted from offline learning to the online/distant learning, that turned over the whole educational system. Some of the countries met this situation well-prepared, but for others, it was quite new and strange. Georgia was on the second list. My research topic highlights teaching-learning processes while ERT (Emergency Remote Teaching). On closer inspection, it studies changes in the traditional methodology of developing the oral-communication skill of English while teaching online because of the pandemic. First of all, we have to differentiate several terms that emerged through the pandemic into the educational system due to the non-traditional forms of teaching processes. These are: e-learning, distance education/distance learning, online education/online learning, blended learning, hybrid learning. But in pandemic, a new term emerged: "emergency remote learning and teaching". This term is used by EUA (European Universities Association) in their short report of September, 2020 "European higher education in the Covid-19 crisis". The same term is used in North America, "emergency remote teaching", where the majority of universities offered their students online learning next to the traditional forms of teaching to their students before the pandemic as well. Hence, teaching-learning processes that became online just because of the pandemic made vivid differences between the existing online learning forms and the learning that became remote because of the emergency situation. Therefore, my research highlights what changes the traditional forms of teaching gone through, when in the Spring term of 2020, the whole system of Higher Educational Institutions of Georgia adapted their offline teaching courses for the online ones.
